We are in the eastern tip of the Coral Triangle with its amazing coral reef system. Here is a look down from our ship to one of our ship’s tenders getting ready to bring guests and crew ashore.
In the midst of all that we are learning about the battles in the Pacific Theater during WW II, today we hoped to simply enjoy the beauty of the islands.
On the main island locals entertained with song, guitar and a really cool stack of bamboo of different lengths. (We have a video ?).
Small boats waited to ferry customers to the many islands in the area.
We chose to go to Imagination Island Resort.
Wow! Turns out, this was beyond our imagination!
We spent most of our time underwater, exploring the beautiful living coral and enjoying the immense variety of colorful fish. Even blue Starfish!
Step right in
All this – and food!
The island on the left is now named Kennedy Island. It is where President Kennedy (then Lieutenant j.g. US Navy) and his men were stranded when PT 109 was rammed in 1943.
A final look back at the stuff of dreams ?
We had an extra passenger up front on this trip. Maybe for ballast? (Yes, he is checking his phone.)
